Example: VMware vSphere 8.0 Enterprise Plus

The following example describes a licensing scenario of two servers with installations of the VMware vSphere 8.0 Enterprise Plus (VSEP) application.

In the compliance summary of the application VMware vSphere 8.0 Enterprise Plus, we see that:

  • The metric of the application is set to Number of processor cores.
  • There are 1068 cores.
  • There are no (0) licenses with that metric for this application.
  • There is a license requirement of 1152 licenses.
  • There are 0 licenses available for coverage.
  • We are 1152 licenses short.

In this example, we want to cover two servers with the required number of licenses:

  • The first server has one CPU with six cores.
  • The second server has two CPUs and 12 cores per CPU.

The minimum license requirement for the VMware vSphere 8.0 Enterprise Plus application is 16 core licenses per CPU.

License requirements

The application VMware vSphere 8.0 Enterprise Plus is detected on hardware with a total number of 1068 cores. Since the license requirement is based on the number of CPUs, the Initial requirement differs from the number of Required licenses. We see that 84 extra licenses are added as an adjustment for the Minimum requirement.
